offbeat tirthan valley

Tirthan is in Banjar Valley in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Covered with dense forests, Tirthan is a treat for nature lovers. It is one of the most loved offbeat places to visit in Himachal. There are hotels, homestays, and cottages to stay in in Tirthan. You can do activities like trekking, river crossing, trout fishing, and rock climbing here. You can also visit the Great Himalayan National Park, a World Heritage site.

Unlike commercialized hill stations, Tirthan offers charming villages, apple orchards, and homestays, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Shangarh meadows

Nestled in the lap of the Great Himalayan National Park, Shangarh Valley is an untouched paradise in Sainj Valley, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. 

One can reach here by road from Aut. Aut is at NH-3, 43 km from Manali and 490 km from Delhi. You can either take a cab, or a cheaper option is to take a local bus. But it is advisable to go by a cab to avoid bus navigation confusion, especially when you are with your family.

With lush green meadows stretching endlessly, it feels like nature’s own amphitheater. The ancient Shangchul Mahadev Temple whispers legends of divine battles, while the pine-fringed landscapes offer a retreat for dreamers and wanderers alike.

Shangarh remains a hidden gem, where silence is only broken by rustling leaves and chirping birds. Whether it’s for a soulful escape, adventure, or photography, Shangarh’s raw beauty enchants every traveler, making it a place where time slows down and nature reigns supreme.

Kamrunag lake

Kamrunag, a hidden gem in Himachal Pradesh, is not just a destination but an experience woven with spirituality and adventure. Perched at 3,334 meters, it is home to the revered Kamrunag Temple, dedicated to the rain god. There is more than one way to reach Kamrunag. Earlier it was a long trek via Rohanda, but nowadays you can reach there in less time. There is a road until Khunda, from where a short trek of around 2 km takes you to the temple.

The trek winds through dense oak and deodar forests, with birdsong and cool mountain breezes guiding the way. The journey is as mesmerizing as the legend of Kamrunag itself. The lake at Kamrunag is famous for fulfilling the wishes of the locals. The local devotees offer gold ornaments to the god Kamrunag and throw them into the sacred lake.

Janjehli valley, Mandi

Janjehli is a pristine landscape with flowing streams, lush meadows, and dense pine and deodar forests. This quiet valley sits at around 2,150 meters from sea level. Janjehli is the base for several treks, like Shikari Devi, Kamrunag, and Karsog. Janjehli’s rolling slopes are adorned with lush apple orchards, painting the valley in shades of red and green during harvest season.

There are many stay options here, which include cottages, homestays, and hotels. You can also stay in the luxury Club Mahindra hotel here. The locals here are warm and welcoming, and the pace of life is beautifully slow. Whether you’re camping under starlit skies, exploring forest trails, or just soaking in the peaceful vibes, Janjehli Valley is where time pauses and nature takes over.

Shikari Devi temple

Shikari Devi is a sacred hilltop temple located in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at around 3,359 meters above sea level. It was established by the Pandavas. There are two ways to reach Shikari Devi temple: one is from Janjehli and the other is from Karsog (21 km). There is a scenic view of surrounding hills and greenery from the top. The temple is totally roofless. Although there is a heavy snowfall during winters, no snow is spotted in the temple premises while the surrounding region is covered up to several feet of snow.

The Shikari Devi trek is a heaven for adventurers. The trek starts from Janjehli (16 km). If you would rather not trek so much, you can travel by cab up to the last motorable spot, from where you can cover the distance of around 2 km on foot. The peaceful surroundings and panoramic views make it a perfect spot for both devotion and trekking.

Tirthan Valley is a beautiful and offbeat hill station located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It takes around 6 to 7 hours from Chandigarh and 9 to 10 hours from Delhi to reach here by road.

No, Jibhi and Tirthan Valley are not the same. Jibhi is a village in Trithan Valley. But these are two different destinations with picturesque landscapes. After travelling for around 217 km from Chandigarh, there is a place named Banjar. From here, two separate roads lead to Tirthan Valley and Jibhi. Tirthan Valley is 16 km away, while Jibhi is 9.3 km from Banjar.

To reach Tirthan Valley from Delhi, you can take a bus or a cab. After approximately 9-10 hours you will reach Aut on NH-3. Take a diversion to Banjar, from where you will lead to Tirthan Valley as well as to Jibhi. Alternatively, take a flight to Bhunter, from where you will arrive at Aut and follow the same path.

Tirthan Valley and Jibhi are known for their picturesque beauty, rich biodiversity, and trout fishing. There are treks like Serolsar Lake and Jalori Pass. You can also explore Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Seraj Valley is in Mandi district. It includes offbeat destinations like Kamrunag, Janjehli, Shikari Devi, and Devidarh. With its serene beauty, Seraj Valley captivates the travellers. These places are absolutely worth visiting.
