Queen of the Hills SHIMLA

Situated in the abode of the Himalayas, Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Also called the Queen of the Hills, Shimla is a perfect destination for all types of travelers. Shimla is known for its scenic beauty, rich cultural heritage, and pleasant climate. It served as the summer capital of British India, leaving behind a rich legacy of architecture. Landmarks like the Viceregal Lodge, Christ Church, and the Gaiety Theatre reflect this historical period. Mall Road and the Ridge are the heart of the city, offering vibrant shopping and dining experiences. During winter, Kufri transforms into a snow paradise, making it a must-visit spot for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

Naldehra:

Naldehra is another serene hill station 23 km from Shimla city. It is home to the Naldehra Golf Course, one of the oldest and most scenic golf courses in India, established by Lord Curzon. The place offers nature walks, horse riding, and a picnic spot. With its cool climate, Naldehra is an ideal destination for a relaxing retreat amidst nature.

Shimla Kalka Toy Train:

The Shimla Kalka Railway is a historic narrow-gauge railway line that connects Kalka in Haryana to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Built in 1903 during British rule, it is known for its scenic beauty, winding tracks, and engineering marvels. Covering a distance of approximately 96 kilometers, the route passes through 102 tunnels, over 800 bridges, and numerous curves, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The journey takes around five to six hours and is a favorite among tourists for its nostalgic charm. The railway is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is often referred to as the toy train of Shimla.

You can visit Shimla all through the year except for the month of July & August as it is rainy season and traveling is not advisable during rainy season. It depends on your place of residence and mode of transport. From your place, you have to reach either Delhi or Chandigarh. There is a regional airport in Jubbarhatti, 22 kilometres from Shimla, and an international airport in Chandigarh, 122 km from Shimla.

It takes 7 to 8 hours to cover a distance of about 248 km between Shimla and Manali. Manali and Kasol are generally coupled with Shimla tour packages because it is really worth it to cover all these scenic places in one go.
